Following Hurricane Michael, the City received funding through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) to retrofit a portion of the existing Public Works building at 200 N. Gulf Blvd. This portion of the building will be a hurricane safe room for 40 Public Works employees. The Public Works Safe Room will be designed to withstand winds up to 200 mph and have an emergency generator. Design is currently ongoing.
